NEW SCALLOP FEST WEBSITE

www.bournescallopfest.com has
been launched as part of the New & Improved look
for the Bourne Scallop Festival. The Festival held at Buzzards
Bay Park, Main Street, Buzzards Bay is scheduled for Friday, Saturday & Sunday
-September 19, 20, and 21. The new site is an interactive,
state-of-the-art design with an on-line store, up-to-date entertainment
schedule, festival highlights, photo gallery, volunteer information,
and advance ticket sales.
Marie
Oliva, President & CEO, stated: “For almost 40
years, people have been enjoying the Bourne Scallop Fest as a fun-filled
destination. This New interactive site is attractive,
easy to navigate and should draw a New generation of customers. Once
you enter the homepage, we have no doubt that you will want to
stay, explore and learn more about the Fest in its 39th consecutive
year.”
A local company, Genevate Corp. of Cataumet,
Massachusetts, designed the new site. Leslie Fishlock, CEO,
said “The Bourne Scallop Fest has a terrific reputation,
and we were able to develop a hip design with cool interactivity.
An awesome event like this deserves an awesome online experience."

“Concerts in the Park”
The Cape Cod Canal Region Chamber
of Commerce will kick-off its “Concerts
in the Park” series in grand style with local dignitaries
on Thursday evening, July 3rd. Local favorites “Four
Guys in Tuxes” will be performing in the Gazebo at Buzzards
Bay Park, Main Street, Buzzards Bay. Concert goers are urged
to wear their finest red, white & blue attire as we start the
July 4th festivities. Two T-Shirts will be awarded for the
Best Patriotic Outfit. The Beachmoor Inn & Restaurant,
business sponsors for the evening, promise to deliver a few surprises
to the celebration. Bring a blanket or a lawn chair and the
entire family to this favorite summer happening. Make
this holiday weekend a real hometown event, starting with the concert
Thursday evening, followed the next morning by the “Bourne
on the 4th of July Parade”, stepping off at 10 AM Main Street,
Buzzards Bay.
The Chamber’s “Concerts in the Park” series will
continue every Thursday night during July and August from 6:30
M – 8:30PM, with the exception of Thursday, August
28th slated for a rain date if necessary.
The concerts are funded in part by a grant from the Bourne
Cultural Council & the Massachusetts Cultural Council and
supported by 20 local businesses. Volunteers from Bay
Community Alliance Church help staff the concerts every
year. Admission is FREE. FREE

and US.

SANDWICH BED & BREAKFAST
RECEIVES CAPE COD SCORE AWARD
Ted Diggle, owner of Aaron Burbank’s Windfall House in
Sandwich received the Build a Better Mousetrap Award from
Cape Cod Score at its 15th Annual Awards Breakfast, Tuesday, June
3rd at the Old Yarmouth Inn, Yarmouth.
Ted purchased the property at 108 Main Street in July 1998. After
completely renovating and restoring the house, Ted opened his doors
as a bed & breakfast in May 1999. Since then, guests
from over 50 countries and all of the 50 states have visited.
Aaron Burbank’s Windfall House was recognized in 2000 American
Home Week by Cape Cod and the Island’s Real Estate Association
for restoration of the 1818 colonial home and it’s contribution
to the revitalization of the community. The house has also
been featured as a Yankee Magazine Editor’s Choice as a Cape
Cod destination over the years.
Ted is a dedicated member of the community and graciously donates
his time to the Canal Region Chamber. He always lends
his expertise on keeping the Visitor Booth looking the best it
can be and recently refurbished the Information Sign on the roof.
In 2000, as part of the annual “Christmas
in Sandwich” celebration,
the Cape Cod Canal Region Chamber of Commerce commissioned Sandwich
artist Karyn Frances Grey to paint an original oil of the Windfall
House as the cover of their 2001 Christmas card.
Top honors for the SCORE Awards are given to the Small Business
Owners, nominated from the various chambers of commerce. The
award winners must have survived the critical first five years
of operation and appear to be headed for long-term success.

MEMBER HAPPENINGS
Heritage Museums and Gardens, Sandwich is looking
for good-hearted volunteer families to house Troupers for Circus
Smirkus, who will be appearing July 28th thorough July 30th. Smirkus
depends upon on these families (called Homestay Hosts) to provide
a safe and welcoming atmosphere during their time away from the show
site. The troupe consists of twenty-nine talented kids,
ages 13 – 18, hailing from all over the United States, South
American, Europe and Asia. Each Homestay family will receive
a brief biography on the Troupers they will be housing. A
minimum of two Troupers is assigned to each host. If
you are interested in becoming a Homestay Host, contact Anah Klate;

The Wareham
Village Association (WVA) has launched an updated website, www.warehamvillageassociation.com with
information on the 12th Annual Swan Festival, July 12th and information
on the downtown area – check it out!
The Wareham Gatemen announced the schedule for
Wareham Gatemen Youth Clinics. Three (3) consecutive two-week
sessions for each program. Session 1: June 23rd through
July 3rd ~ Session 2: July 7th through July 18th ~
Session 3: July 21st through August 1st.
All Clinics are run by a Gatemen Assistant Coach as well as selected
Gatemen players. All Clinic participants must bring their
own glove and water. All other equipment will be provided by
the Gatemen Baseball organization. Program specifics and applications
