AN INVITATION TO THE BUSINESS COMMUNITY - It
is to everyone’s
benefit that Bourne is and continues to be a vibrant and growing
community, one that is willing to support not only private business,
large and small, but also it’s educational, cultural and recreational
facilities. The Jonathan Bourne Public Library is a center of all
three of these activities and needs your support to remain so.
As a non-profit entity, we cannot sell anything tangible to buy product,
repair infrastructure or support our staff. We rely on what
the Town budget makes available to us, and now that is not enough.
As business people, you know what happens when there is not adequate
space to showcase and store what you have to offer; when the old
and outdated heating and air conditioning systems need replacement;
when almost half of your space is all but unusable due to State regulations
and inadequate building design.
The most sensible, realistic and economical
solution to these issues is to renovate and expand simultaneously
with the goal of increased stack space, new children’s areas, more meeting rooms for Town
and business officials and updated technology to name a few. We
will soon have the State’s grant; we will need Town support
and financing and the Library Building Committee hopes to raise $500,000
in the next several years.
Therefore, we are asking for your support.
Make a donation, make a challenge to other businesses, donate an
item for raffle, host an event at your store. In the coming
months, we will contact you directly to answer your questions about
our campaign and, hopefully, to include you in our ranks of supporters.
