Job Description
The Boys & Girls Club is seeking an experienced Mental Health Counselor to provide guidance counseling to children and youths.
Candidates should have a minimum of 5 year’s experience working with youth and a minimum of a four-year bachelor’s degree related to social work, psychology or counseling, with a Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
Duties include, but are not limited to: youth counseling, small group counseling, individual counseling, providing programming that fosters mental health & avoiding substance use, and collaboration with local agencies and the community. This position is 3 days a week from 4:00PM-8:00PM on Mondays and Tuesdays and until 10:00PM on Fridays for our Afterschool and Teen Programs.
Successful candidates will demonstrate:
-Experience in crisis intervention and conflict resolution.
-Knowledge of child development theory and practice.
-Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
-Strong ethical standards and a commitment to providing quality care.
-Ability to manage multiple tasks and to develop solutions to problems with limited supervision.
-Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Club members, staff, subordinates, Board members, community groups, and other related agencies.
-Ability to keep records and monitor youth progress
-Valid Massachusetts Driver’s License and a safe driving record.
Pay: $50.00 – $75.00 per hour
